Pareceu-me interessante e resolvi pesquisar.
Boas Leituras!
Despite reading a lot of poetry, it is very rare to share here the poetry books that I have finished. Which does not look good, considering the fact that I made it a personal mission to share the poetry I like with my readers. However, poetry books are like a good box of chocolates, and less like a full meal. They are meant to be savoured slowly, in small portions, when I need to surround myself with something good and beautiful. Hence why it takes me so long to finish each book, to the point that I rarely update my Goodreads with them, or share them here.
This was not the case with this small gem. I’ve heard about Mary Oliver in one of Jack Edwards videos. He is the king of BookTube, despite his young age, and we share much of our literary taste. It seemed interesting when he read it, and I went searching for it. And I was absolutely enthralled with this small book, and the author’s talent. The writing seems simple, and it actually speaks about simplicity. And about the beauty that is all around us, about nature and its impact on our wellbeing, and even about the passing away of her small dog. In its apparent simplicity, her writing is filled with truth and awe, and I loved it. I am usually more drawn for Portuguese poets, mainly because I can understand it better, but I have to say this must now be one of my favourite poets. I will be sharing some of her work here in the near future.
I recommend it to all poetry lovers, everyone that loves beauty, nature and the slow pace of a life well lived and enjoyed. You will not regret it. On to the next.
Happy Reading!
